FUNDAMENTALS OF VISUAL LANGUAGE-1

Updated: Nov 25, 2020

This was the 3rd project. In the project aim was to introduce us to the various elements of visual language and to make us engage with observation based drawing.

This project was full of thinking and challenge my self to create something new.

The journey of this project was so interesting we create a lot of things like line bank , different texture , tones and so on.

ELEMENTS OF VISUAL LANGUAGE

We were introduced to the concept of lines and dots. on day 1 we were asked to create line bank we had to explore as many lines as we could but not just straight line we included all the curves.

Here are some works-

I TRY THESE LINES WITH DIFFERNT GRADES PENCILS LIKE HB,2B,4B,6B,8B,10B

TONES -

These are few works i did in this project

DAILY DRAWING DOCUMENT (DDD)

From starting of this project we were asked to make 10 sketches daily of any kitchen tools. I choose a lot of object to sketch but my most loving objects are-

I am not that much perfect to make quick and perfect sketches. but my sketching improves day by day.

GLOSSARY-

1. DK - DIL KHUSH

2. HK - HUM KHUSH

3. DIL MANGE MORE - THE WORDS THAT ENCOURAGED TO WORK MORE

4. TEXTURE - THE WAY THAT SOMETHING FEELS WHEN YOU TOUCH IT

5. DENSITY - THE DENSITY OF A MATERIAL IS SCIENTIFICALLY DEFINED AS ITS MASS PER UNIT OF VOLUME.. IN ART IT'S EASIER TO THINK OF DENSITY AS ACTUAL OR PERCEIVED WEIGHT

6. HIGH FIVE - MOTIVATED TO WORK MORE

PENCILS OF DIFFERENT GRADES

There are two grading systems for pencils- American and European. the American system is numerical and goes from 1 to 4, while the European system uses the letters "H" and "B" to note how hard or soft a pencil is.

HB - HB pencil has a lower blackness, and the color of the marks drawn is relatively light which is very different. 2B - 2B pencil has a higher blackness then HB, and 6B the marks drawn are relatively black. 2B pencil is darker in color and lower in hardness. 4B - 4B pencil has a higher blackness, but this is quite similar with 2B. but for showing depth and density we use pencils of higher grades like 6B, 8B, 10B, and CHARCOL.

However each grade pencil can be used to show depth or light with different amount of pressure applied on the paper.

This is how different pencils are used and they show mesmerizing effects on the paper .

EXPERIENCE

I love how everything is being taught to us from the very basic.

Our teachers clearly told us that nothing that we make is bad or useless. It is fun to be working together.

In this project i got to know many techniques with ink, charcoal stick , micro tip pens.

I got to know that not always perfect things look best sometimes imperfect things can look better than perfect ones.

For me this is one of my favorite project .

😊THANK YOU 😊
